My wife and I are both ordained in the Universal Life Church, and so we did our own wedding ceremony. These were our vows: Cathyn: To you and before our families and friends I would swear to love you and be your friend to respect your feelings, needs, and ideas to give you advice when I think you need it and to listen to your advice when you give it to me to be honest with you to be thoughtful, caring, and kind to put no others before us to open stuck jars and lift heavy things to stand by your side throughout the vagaries of life to be your husband Lillith: To you and before our friends and family I would swear to love you and to be your friend to respect your ideas, feelings, and needs to give you advice all those times when I think you need it and to listen to your advice when you think I need it most important, to be honest with you to be caring, kind, and thoughtful to put no others before us to ask for directions and fit into small spaces to stand by your side throughout all the vagaries of life to be your wife (***)Cathyn: Wife? Lillith: Yup. Husband? Cathyn: Yup. Both: Well, alright then.(***) Then we put in the rings. (***) When we were discussing what our vows were going to be, I joked "I know, I'll just look at you and ask 'Wife?' and you'll say 'Yup. Husband?' and I'll say 'Yup.' and then we'll both say in unison 'Well, alright then.'" And it stuck.
