My aikido test, a week from tomorrow, has sapped most of my attention for a couple of months now. It's not that I'm thinking about it all the time, so much as it's filled all the little spare undercurrents of my thoughts. It's taken the underlying hum of my consciousness and focused it, so I haven't been doing much else: I've been skipping Monday night Zen sittings, and I haven't felt interested in or comfortable with riding my motorcycle around, being concerned about being able to give it my complete attention. Which is fine, I don't really like riding in hot weather anyway.
