I'm up late, because I decided tonight I would stop putting everything off and replace my housemate's bookcase in my room (which is a serviceable but uninteresting lightly-finished pine) with my steel Metro wire shelving that has languished in my garage. The difference is striking, how much lighter the room is being able to see the wall behind the shelves, and just how much less massive they are. They hold quite a bit more, too, so I am well pleased and my room is a much nicer place to be. I even went so far as to sweep a bit--the house is all hardwood floors, so a vacuum cleaner is usually overkill.
